Palermo vs Napoli preview

Serie A campaign returns after the winter break and the most interesting tie of the round will be played at Renzo Barbera, where Palermo play host to Napoli.

Owner Maurizio Zamparini is there to make sure Renzo Barbera is always an exciting place to be, with sacking of coach Devis Mangia just before Christmas one of his trademark moves.

The controversial owner decided to make life easier for new boss Bortolo Mutti, having brought talented players Franco Vazquez and Agon Mehmeti in the winter transfer window.

The Rossanero are now hoping to return to winning ways after ending the six-match winning run at home, with home win paying 3.30 (23/10) at 188BET.

New boss Mutti faces certain selection problems as Josip Ilicic is suspended and Abel Hernandez, Eros Pisano, Eran Zahavi and Mauricio Pinilla are all sidelined.

Argentine playmaker Franco Vazquez is likely to start in the trequartista role, whereas Agon Mehmeti will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Benussi – Munoz, Silvestre, Cetto, Balzaretti – Migliaccio, Barreto, Acquah – Vazquez – Miccoli, Budan.

Having put up a serious title challenge last term, Napoli were seen as one of the most likely candidates for Scudetto, but despite the arrival of several quality players, the Partenopei are still struggling to rediscover their form.

Sixteen rounds into the season and Walter Mazzarri’s side are already ten points adrift of leaders Milan, although they did manage to qualify from a very difficult Champions League group.

The Azzurri have been underperforming both home and away, although everybody at the club are hoping the team will raise their game after the winter break.

After winning just two of seven away games, Napoli is hardly a good bet here, even with odds of 2.40 (7/5) offered by Ladbrokes on away win.

Apart from Ezequiel Lavezzi, who misses out through injury, boss Walter Mazzarri should have fully fit squad to choose from.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): De Sanctis – Campagnaro, Cannavaro, Aronica – Maggio, Inler, Gargano, Zuniga – Hamsik, Pandev – Cavani.
