Palermo vs Milan preview

With one of the best home sides in Serie A set to tackle the league leaders, everything suggests we will witness a great game of football at Renzo Barbera.

Palermo remain one of just two Serie A sides that have yet to record a victory on the travels this season, and it is this travel sickness that is preventing the Rosanero from reaching their full potential.

Bortolo Mutti’s side, on the other hand, are a real force to be reckoned with at Renzo Barbera, having won 10 of 12 league games at their home ground.

Following the 5-1 home win over title hopefuls Lazio, Palermo could be worth backing here, especially as BetVictor pays 5.00 (4/1) on home win.

Boss Bortolo Mutti faces a major defensive headache seeing that Matias Silvestre and Federico Balzaretti miss out through injury and suspension respectively.

That means that midfielder Giulio Migliaccio will act as a centre-back even if he has yet to fully recover from a bout of flu.

Eros Pisano is a doubt with a muscle problem, whereas Abel Hernandez and Armin Bacinovic continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Viviano – Pisano, Migliaccio, Munoz, Mantovani – Bertolo, Donati, Barreto – Ilicic – Miccoli, Budan.

Milan remained at the top of the standings after the controversial 1-1 draw with Juventus, but they will have to continue the good run of results as the Bianconeri are just one point behind and have a game in hand.

The aforementioned draw at San Siro ended team’s three-match winning run, but the Rossoneri will have to work hard for the three points against Palermo.

Having won five of their last six away games, Maxi Allegri’s side clearly have reason for optimism, but odds of 1.83 (5/6) offered by Ladbrokes on away win do not represent a real value for money.

The Rossoneri are set to welcome back Zlatan Ibrahimovic from a three-match suspension, but Alberto Aquilani is still a couple of weeks away from making a return.

Philippe Mexes starts his own three-match ban, whereas Maxi Lopez and Alessandro Nesta are both doubtful.

Antonio Cassano, Gennaro Gattuso, Alexander Merkel, Alexandre Pato, Clarence Seedorf, Rodney Strasser and Kevin-Prince Boateng remain unavailable.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Abbiati – Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Antonini – Nocerino, Van Bommel, Muntari – Emanuelson – Robinho, Ibrahimovic.
