Napoli vs Juventus preview

This could be Napoli’s last chance to return to the title race as a defeat to leaders Juventus would certainly act as a major blow to their title aspirations.

The Bianconeri, on the other hand, can move four points clear of their rivals with a win at San Paolo, so it goes without saying that stakes are high in this clash.

Following some very impressive showings last term, Napoli were tipped to mount a serious title challenge this season, but it looks as though the Azzurri don’t have what it takes to fight for the Serie A trophy.

While doing really well in games against their title rivals, Napoli have dropped too many points against those smaller sides and that is the main reason why they are now nine points behind leaders Juventus.

The Azzurri kept their Champions League hopes alive with a valuable win over Manchester City, but could then only muster a 1:1 draw with Atalanta, with Cavani’s last gasp effort salvaging one point for Walter Mazzarri’s side.

However, considering that Napoli have already beaten sides like Milan, Inter and Manchester City this season, odds of 2.50 (3/2) offered by Ladbrokes on home win might be worth a shot.

Ezequiel Lavezzi, Christian Maggio, Salvatore Aronica and Gokhan Inler return after being rested at the weekend, but Miguel Britos and Marco Donadel remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): De Sanctis – Campagnaro, Cannavaro, Aronica – Maggio, Inler, Gargano, Dossena – Hamsik, Lavezzi – Cavani.

Despite the heavy summer spending, Juventus were expected to experience some problems in the opening stage of the season, but the Bianconeri have exceeded all expectations.

They did record several slip ups at the start to the Serie A campaign, but quickly returned to winning ways, with derby wins over Milan, Inter and Lazio proving that they are serious title contenders after all.

The Old Lady are now on a four-match winning run and they will fancy their chances against Napoli at San Paolo, so you should know William Hill pays no less than 3.00 (2/1) on away win.

Having conceded just two goals in five away games, the Bianconeri are certainly hoping to keep their fourth clean sheet on the travels, and they are 3.50 (5/2) with Paddy Power not to concede at San Paolo.

With no fresh injury worries to report, boss Antonio Conte is likely to stick to the same side that beat Lazio at Olimpico at the weekend.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Buffon – Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Barzagli, Chiellini – Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio – Pepe, Matri, Vucinic.
