Monaco vs Toulouse preview

Monaco vs ToulouseTwo convincing victories saw Monaco establish themselves as genuine title contenders, but the good run needs to continue against Toulouse if Claudio Ranieri’s men are to remain near the top.

Le Tefece could pick up just one point so far, meaning they won’t be lacking in motivation when they visit Stade Louis II.

Monaco were always going to try and mount a serious title challenge in Ligue 1, but many believed heavy summer recruitment and a two-point penalty would prove to be a problem.

Nevertheless, while having the penalty overturned, the Principality Club enjoyed a bright start to the league campaign, thus suggesting they will not need time to gel.

The 2-0 away triumph over Bordeaux was followed by 4-1 hammering of 2011 champions Montpellier, so no wonder Claudio Ranieri’s side are just 1.40 (2/5) with Betfair to make it three in a row.

After scoring in his first two competitive matches for Monaco, Radamel Falcao is 1.70 (7/10) with BetVictor to extend his scoring run.

Summer signing Joao Moutinho continues to miss out with a thigh injury, while Sergio Romero could take over from Danijel Subasic between the sticks.

The good news is key attacker James Rodriguez is set to return after recovering from a hip problem. Nabil Dirar and Nacer Barazite remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Romero – Fabinho, Carvalho, Abidal, Kurzawa – Toulalan, Obbadi – Ocampos, Rodriguez, Riviere – Falcao.

Not so long ago, Toulouse were playing European football and battling for top 4 finish in French Ligue 1, but the club have been on a major downtrend of late.

Three wins in last four league games last term saw le Tefece ensure a top table finish, but they will have to work hard to improve on that result this season.

Having stayed without key midfielders Etienne Capoue and Franck Tabanou, Toulouse could experience problems in the creative department, although they did sign some pretty good replacements.

Oscar Trejo and Clement Chantome are expected to play a key role this season, while talented centre-back Uros Spajic was also added to the squad.

Toulouse, nonetheless, had a very disappointing start to the season, losing to Valenciennes before sharing spoils with Bordeaux, so it is clear they arrive in Monaco poor on spirits.

Jonathan Zebina and Eden Ban Basat have been ruled out of the trip to Principality, while Mihai Roman remains long-term casualty.

Probable starting line-up (3-5-2): Ahamada – Aurier, Spajic, Abdennour – Akpa Akpo, Sirieix, Chantome, Reggatin, M’Bengue – Trejo, Ben Yedder.
