Milan vs Palermo preview

The clashes between Milan and Palermo tend to bring us plenty of excitement, so there is no reason to think this match will be any different.

The Rossoneri are no less than six points behind leaders Juventus after just five rounds, meaning this is a must-win game for them.

Coach Maxi Allegri and his side have been struggling to cope with so many players on the sidelines at the start of the season, but the good news is that the situation is improving.

Robinho and Ignacio Abate have resumed full training and they are expected to start, but several important players are still out on the sidelines.

Kevin-Prince Boateng is both injured and suspended, whereas Gennaro Gattuso, Alexandre Pato and Mathieu Flamini are still unavailable.

In spite of all the problems, Milan remain odds-on favourites to win this clash, with William Hill paying 1.53 (8/15) on home win.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Abbiati – Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta – Nocerino, Seedorf, Van Bommel – Robinho – Ibrahimovic, Cassano.

While Maurizio Zamparini’s decision to sack coach Stefano Pioli just before the league campaign started was seen as controversial, it has definitely produced amazing results.

New boss Devis Mangia masterminded home victories over Inter, Cagliari and Siena, whereas his side also brought one point from difficult away game against Lazio.

After five rounds, the Rosanero sit just one point behind leaders Juventus, so there are no doubts they enter this clash in high spirits.

Palermo did fail to score in their two away games this season, but seeing they traditionally do well at San Siro, you should know the Rosanero are 1.70 (7/10) with Sportingbet to score against Milan.

Fabrizio Miccoli and Edgar Alvarez have recovered from their respective injuries, but they look likely to start on the bench, whereas left-back Federico Balzaretti is suspended.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Tzorvas – Pisano, Silvestre, Migliaccio, Mantovani – Bertolo, Barreto, Della Rocca, Ilicic – Zahavi, Pinilla.
