Milan vs Inter preview

With both Milan and Inter in amazing form at the moment, Derby della Madonnina is expected to produce a lot of fireworks on Sunday night.

The Rossoneri recovered well from the dismal start to the season and they recently climbed to the top of Serie A standings.

After ending the first part of the league campaign with back to back wins over Siena and Cagliari, Milan continued in the same manner in the second part of the season, beating Atalanta away last weekend.

Not only did the Rossoneri win their last three league games, but they did so without conceding a single goal in the process, so odds of 3.75 (11/4) offered by Paddy Power on Milan to win to nil could be worth a shot.

Milan fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief when Alexandre Pato decided to stay at San Siro, but that did nothing to improve the player’s chances of starting this game.

Maxi Allegri is sweating on the fitness of Alberto Aquilani, Luca Antonini, Taye Taiwo and Gennaro Gattuso, whereas Mario Yepes, Antonio Casano and Mathieu Flamini are definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Abbiati – Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta – Nocerino, Van Bommel, Seedorf – Boateng – Ibrahimovic, Robinho.

Following some very disappointing performances in the early stage of the season, Inter were thought to be completely out of the title race, but the Neroazzurri have since risen from the ashes and are threatening to upset the order at the top of the standings.

Claudio Ranieri’s side finally managed to hot the ground running at the start of December and have been thoroughly impressive ever since.

The run of five straight Serie A wins saw the Neroazzurri close the gap behind the leaders to just eight points, meaning that they will be effectively back in the title race if they beat their bitter rivals.

Backing Inter to win Serie A title at odds of 13.80 (64/5) offered by Betfair may seem like a long shot, but it could be worth a gamble.

Diego Forlan, Wesley Sneijder and Dejan Stankovic could play some part after the lengthy spell on the sidelines, but Sulley Muntari is away on international duty.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Julio Cesar – Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Nagatomo – Zanetti, Motta, Cambiasso, Alvarez – Pazzini, Milito.
