Two giants of French football have finally returned to where they belong, with Marseille and Lyon now fighting for the opportunity to stay just behind leaders PSG.

Having struggled for so long to fulfill their potential, OM surprised everyone with their amazing start to the new league campaign that saw them win six games on the bounce.

However, it soon became clear that Elie Baup’s side would not be able to keep the rich vein of form for much longer, with defeats to Valenciennes and Troyes and home draw against PSG seriously affecting the players’ confidence.

After losing their Europa League game to Borussia M’gladbach in midweek, Marseille clearly enter this match low on spirits, but Paddy Power still sees them as 2.20 (6/5) favourites for the win.

Andre-Pierre Gignac and Leyti N’Diaye continue to miss out, but Souleymane Diawara could return. Joey Barton continues to serve his 12-match ban.

Everybody at the club is hoping Loic Remy will finally start scoring after fully recovering from injury, with the France international 2.62 (13/8) with 888sport to break his scoring duck against Lyon.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Mandanda – Abdallah, Fanni, N’Koulou, Morel – Kabore, Cheyrou – Amalfitano, Valbuena, A. Ayew – Remy.

Olympique Lyon, too, enjoyed a bright start to the season despite seeing a number of important players leave the club in the summer.

Ederson, Kim Kallstrom, Aly Cissokho, Cris and Hugo Lloris all left, while in came Milan Bisevac, Fabian Monzon and Arnold Mvuemba.

Les Gones picked up no less than 13 points from first 5 league games, but then failed to win any of their next three league encounters.

Europa League victories over Ironi Kiryan Shmona and Athletic Bilbao, nonetheless, helped the team return to the right track, which is why odds of 3.90 (29/10) offered at BetVictor on away win could be worth a shot.

Clement Grenier and Michel Bastos continue to miss out, but Milan Bisevac and Yoann Gourcuff should be back in contention.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Vercoutre – Reveillere, Lovren, Bisevac, Dabo – Briand, Malbranque, Gonalons, Lacazette – Gomis, Lopez.
