Lorient vs PSG preview

Lorient may need a victory to clinch Ligue 1 survival, but everything suggests that one point from this match would suffice as well.

Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, have got to win at Le Moustoir and hope that Auxerre will beat Montpellier, in which case the Saints will win the league title.

Lorient have long ago established themselves as genuine mid table side, but Ligue 1 are such a competition that even 12th-placed Valenciennes have got to fear for their status before the final day of the season.

Les Merlus have missed a couple of good opportunities to ensure survival, having taken just one point from last three games, but everything suggests they will not get relegated even if they lose this game.

However, they need to take at least one point in order to be sure, and Lorient are 2.10 (11/10) with Paddy Power not to lose on the final day of the season.

Coach Christian Gourcuff has no fresh injury worries, and he could field the same side that started the Bordeaux clash.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Janot – Kone, Ecuele Manga, Bourillon, Mareque – Romao, Mulumba, Le Lan – Campbell, Monnet-Paquet, Coutadeur.

In spite of spending more than €100 million on new players, Paris Saint-Germain look set to miss out on the league title, which would certainly be a big disappointment for everyone at the club.

In all fairness, the Saints have done better than usual title contenders Lille, Marseille and Lyon, but they just couldn’t keep up with amazing Montpellier.

PSG now sit three points adrift of their title rivals, meaning they need to beat Lorient and Auxerre to beat Montpellier in order to clinch the league title, which would be possible had Auxerre had something to play for.

However, seeing they are already relegated, things don’t look too good for the Saints, although they will give their best to fulfill their part of the bargain and beat Lorient.

Bet Victor has the best price on the market on away win, as they pay 1.80 (4/5) on PSG to claim maximum points at La Moustoir.

Thiago Motta returns from suspension, but Milan Bisevac remains sidelined. All other players are fit to feature.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Sirigu – Jallet, Camara, Alex, Maxwell – Motta, Sissoko, Matuidi – Menez, Nene, Pastore.
