Lazio vs Cesena preview

Lazio have been given an opportunity to quickly return to winning ways after the defeat in Genoa as their clash with Cesena was brought forward from the weekend because of the Six Nations rugby game between Italy and England.

The Biancocelesti didn’t want the Genoa match to go ahead as it had taken the team seven hours to reach Stadio Luigi Ferraris because of freezing weather conditions, but the match was played and Lazio ended up losing the game 3-2.

Edy Reja’s side showed some improvement after going three goals down as they scored two second-half goals and almost salvaged one point from the game.

The match at Luigi Ferraris really had a devastating effect on the squad as Mobido Diakite was sent off and is now suspended for the Cesena game, whereas Hernanes, Rocchi and Stankevicius all picked up muscle injuries.

Tommaso Rochi is likely to miss out, but Hernanes and Stankevicius could recover in time to play, just like Andre Dias. Lorik Cana, Emiliano Alfaro, Stephen Makinwa, Stefano Mauri, Cristian Brocchi and Libor Kozak are definitely out.

In spite of all the injury problems, Lazio are considered favourites in this clash and they are 1.50 (1/2) with BetVictor to claim maximum points.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Marchetti – Konko, Dias, Biava, Radu – Candreva, Ledesma, Gonzalez, Lulic – Hernanes – Klose.

Following some very good showings last season and heavy summer recruitment, Cesena were expected to escape the relegation zone, but the team have been struggling from the very start to the season and are still situated in the bottom three.

The club management did well to bring few more reinforcements in January, with Vincenzo Iaquinta, Mario Alberto Santana, Daniel Pudil, Vangelis Moras and Simone Del Nero all arriving to Stadio Dino Manuzzi.

The Cavallucci Marini indeed show some improvement to bring a valuable point from San Paolo, and they certainly wouldn’t mind doing the same at Olimpico.

With Iaquinta and Santana expected in the starting line-up, odds of 4.33 (10/3) offered by Ladbrokes on draw could be worth a shot.

Defenders Vangelis Moras and Steve Von Bergen miss out through injury, just like midfielder Damjan Djokovic.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Antonioli – Ceccarelli, Rossi, Rodriguez, Lauro – Santana, Guana, Parolo, Pudil – Iaquinta, Mutu.
