Bottom-placed Freiburg face an uphill task against one of the main candidates for the Bundesliga title, but the hosts have no choice but to try and beat their more illustrious opponents.

Freiburg largely impressed last season with the poor finish of the league campaign the only thing preventing them from achieving European qualification, but things have changed considerably since.

Christian Streich’s side started the season in a very poor fashion, losing 8 of their first 11 games and they have been unable to recover ever since.

The team have picked up few more points along the way and boosted their survival hopes with a home win over Augsburg just after the winter break, but their decision to sell star striker Papiss Demba Cisse could end up costing them the Bundesliga survival.

After sharing spoils with Werder Bremen, Freiburg were unable to avoid defeat away to Wolfsburg, and they now face another very difficult task.

Mensur Mujdza, Pavel Krmas, Anton Putsila and Julian Schuster are all unavailable because of injuries.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Baumann – Sorg, Diagne, Hohn, Lumb – SchmidFlum, Makiadi, Caligiuri – Rosenthal – Jendrisek.

Even if Bayern started the Bundesliga campaign with a home defeat to Borussia M’gladbach, the Bavarians went on to win next ten games in all competitions, without conceding a single goal in the process.

At the time, Jupp Heynckes and his players could have been forgiven for feeling they would have no problems winning the league title, but that could prove to be much tougher task than anyone expected.

The Bavarians have experienced some problems after the winter break, with 3-1 defeat to Borussia M’Gladbach and 1-1 draw with Hamburg putting a dent into their title hopes, but Jupp Heynckes’ side are, nonetheless, just two points behind leaders BVB.

Bayern are hot favourites to beat bottom-placed Freiburg, with BetVictor paying 1.33 (1/3) on away win, whereas they are 2.00 (1/1) with Stan James to lift the Bundesliga title.

The visitors are still without Bastian Schweinsteiger, Breno and Daniel van Buyten, whereas Diego Contento is few weeks away from making his return.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Rafinha, Boateng, Badstuber, Lahm – Alaba, Luis Gustavo – Muller, Kroos, Ribery – Gomez.
