Mexican giants Monterrey will attempt to create a surprise and pip Champions League winners Chelsea to a place in the Club World Cup final, even if their opponents are very motivated to do well in Japan.

This will be a second participation at the Club World Cup for the Mexican side, having been eliminated in the quarter-finals last time out.

Boss Victor Vuchetic cited lack of preparation time for last year’s defeat to Kashiwa Reysol, so he was certainly happy to have no less than three weeks to prepare for the new edition of the Club World Cup.

Despite arriving in Japan without star striker Humberto Suazo, the Mexican side impressed to record a 3-1 win over Ulsan and they are now 4.50 (7/2) with 888sport to qualify for the final.

Midfielder Cesar de la Pena also misses out, but the attacking trio of Cesar Delgado, Antonio de Nigris and Neri Cardozo can cause all sorts of problems to Chelsea back line.

With no fresh selection worries, boss Victor Vuchelic is likely to field the same side that started the first match of the tournament.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Orozco – Meza, Basanta, Mier, S. Perez – Chavez, Ayovi, Corona – Cardozo, De Nigris, Delgado.

After replacing Jose Mourinho to win the Club World Cup with Inter, Rafa Benitez could win his second title in Japan without really having much to do.

The Spaniard’s appointment at Stamford Bridge was heavily criticized, especially after the Blues failed to win any of the first three games since his arrival, although comfortable wins over Nordsjaelland and Sunderland did improve the atmosphere in the squad.

Now it’s time for Chelsea to prove their worth at the Club World Cup, fighting for a $5 million reward that goes to the winner of the tournament.

Even if their next opponents are not exactly on top of their game at the moment, odds of 1.50 (1/2) offered at Coral on away win do not look too tempting.

After netting four times in last two games, Fernando Torres is 2.20 (6/5) with Paddy Power to score against Monterrey.

With the tournament final in mind, Rafa Benitez could make a couple of changes to the starting line-up, but John Terry and Oriol Romeu are definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Cech – Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole – Mikel, Ramires – Moses, Oscar, Hazard – Torres.
