Gladbach vs WolfsburgBorussia M’gladbach will be looking to improve their chances of clinching automatic Champions League qualification when they host second-placed Wolfsburg on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolves were knockout out of the Europa League, but a win at Borussia Park would be a perfect tonic after the European exit.

Nobody in Germany needs proof that Borussia are one of Bundesliga’s top sides any more, with Lucien Favre helping one of country’s oldest clubs return to old glory days.

But, with die Fohlen yet to reach the Champions League group stages, it is hardly surprising they will give their all to achieve a top 3 finish and skip the CL play-offs.

While their qualification for Europe’s elite competition is no longer in question, Borussia are level on points with third-placed Bayer Leverkusen heading into the final five games.

Therefore, they will attempt to take advantage of Wolfsburg’s midweek clash with Inter and defeat the Wolves on Sunday, with home win paying 2.38 (11/8).

And having won each of their last seven Bundesliga matches at home, scoring 16 goals and conceding 4, Borussia do look like the favourites here.

Martin Stranzl is nearing his return from injury, but he is expected to sit out the Wolfsburg game, with Joel Brouwers deputizing.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Sommer – Jantschke, Brouwers, Dominguez, Wendt – Kramer, Xhaka – Herrmann, Raffael, Johnson – Kruse.

Just like their next opponents, Wolfsburg are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in recent years, with a second-place finish in German Bundesliga on the cards.

The Wolves were also pretty impressive in Europa League until recently, but 4-1 home loss to Napoli in the first leg of the quarter-final effectively ended their title hopes.

Wolfsburg are through to the DFB Pokal semi-final, where they will face third division side Armenia Bielefeld, and chances are they will be vying either Bayern or Dortmund for the coveted trophy.

Following the heavy defeat in the first leg, coach Dieter Hecking decided to rest a couple of starters in the second match against Napoli, and his side did well to come from two goals behind and earn a draw.

Wolfsburg now have several important players out on the sidelines, so odds of 3.30 (23/10) offered on away win do not look too tempting.

The likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Andre Schurrle and Vieirinha are all set to miss out, whereas Aaron Hunt is a long-term casualty.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Benaglio – Trasch, Naldo, Knoche, Rodriguez – Guilavogui, Gustavo – Caliguri, Arnold, Perisic – Dost.
