Vaslui vs Inter preview

Having been eliminated from the  Champions League by Fenerbahce, Vaslui face a mountain to climb as they battle Inter for a place in the Europa League group stages.

The nine-match winning run during the season finale didn’t prove enough for the league title as the Yellow-Greens finished the league campaign just one point behind champions Cluj, but it gave the team a chance to fight for a place in Champions League group stages.

Vaslui did well to record a 1-1 draw away to Fenerbahce, but the 4-1 defeat in the return leg meant that they will continue their European campaign in Europa League.

The Romanians were very unfortunate to be pitted against Inter Milan, arguably the strongest side in the draw, but they aim to at least make life difficult for their more illustrious opponents, with home win paying 5.50 (9/2) at William Hill.

With no fresh injuries to report, boss Marius Sumudica is set to field the same line-up that started the Fenerbahce game.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Coman – Milanov, Varela, Charalambous, Salageanu – Caue, N’Doye – Antal, Stanciu, Sanmartean – M. Niculae.

The fact Inter had clinched the final Europa League berth meant that they had to start their season much earlier than other Italian sides, but that could be a good thing as the Neroazzurri were always going to need time to gel after the numerous changes to the playing squad.

The Italian giants did well to record a 3-0 victory away to Hajduk Split in their first competitive game, but allowed themselves to lose the return leg 2-0, coming really close to European elimination.

With the embarrassing defeat to Hajduk in mind, the Neroazzurri are expected to take this game very seriously and no wonder they are just 1.80 (4/5) with Stan James to win in Romania.

As Giampaolo Pazzini awaits his switch to Milan that will see Antonio Cassano move the other way to go ahead, the striker is out of contention, while keeper Samir Handanovic is sidelined through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-2-1): Castellazzi – Maicon, Silvestre, Juan Jesus, Nagatomo – Zanetti, Cambiasso, Mudingayi – Sneijder, Coutinho – Palacio.
