Christian Eriksen has said that one of his main motivations behind joining Inter Milan from Tottenham Hotspur was the potential of winning more trophies.

The Danish midfielder departed North London during the transfer window for a reported fee of approximately £17m, penning a four-and-a-half year contract with the Serie A giants.

He reached two finals in his time with Spurs including the final of the UEFA Champions League last season, which they lost to Premier League rivals Liverpool. However, he believes that he has more chance of lifting silverware with new employers Inter Milan.

He said: “There’s a big chance of winning a trophy here or a bigger chance than where I was of course.”

“The Champions League final was a very bad day, we lost which you don’t want to remember.

“I’m here to win and start something new. The last time I won something was at Ajax so it’s many years ago. I still remember the feeling so I want to achieve it here as well.”

Inter have been challenging for the Serie A crown under new boss Antonio Conte. The club are currently sit second in the table, three points behind reigning champions Juventus. They can be backed at a price of 4/1 with Betfair to lift the title come the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
