Marouane FellainiManchester United manager Louis van Gaal has suggested that he plans to use Marouane Fellaini up front rather than in his preferred midfield position.

The Dutch coach did use the Belgium star as a target man when the Red Devils were chasing a result last season and he has now hinted that may become a regular role for the 27-year-old.

While being spoilt for options in the centre of the park, Manchester United only has Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez as centre forwards and he now plans to use Fellaini up front as well.

“This year he’ll be more a number nine or 10 than at six or eight,” Van Gaal said ahead of the Champions League clash with Club Brugge, where his side are 1.91 (10/11) to win the return leg.

It was Fellaini who scored the all important third goal in the dying moments of the first match and he should have a role to play in Brugge as well.

The Belgium international scored a total of 7 goals last term to prove he can be relied on in attack and he is now looking to continue his goalscoring form.
