Tottenham playmaker Rafael van der Vaart is likely to miss the remainder of the festive schedule after picking up a hamstring injury last night.

The Dutchman started Spurs’s derby game with Chelsea last night, but was withdrawn at half-time because of tightness in his hamstring.

Asked whether Van der Vaart was likely to miss the remainder of the year, Harry Redknapp replied: “Yes, it looks that way.”

“He just seems to have a hamstring problem all the time. He is a great player but we need to keep him fit.”

Harry Redknapp is also without Aaron Lennon and admits the winger was sorely missed against Chelsea.

“We had no one who could play wide right to give us the balance we needed. When Aaron Lennon is not out there, we haven’t really got a wide right player.”

Tottenham’s title hopes suffered a real blow as they shared spoils with Chelsea on Thursday evening, but Spurs kept the advantage over their rivals and are now 1.57 (4/7) with William Hill to achieve a top 4 finish.
