Swansea City will be aiming to recover from two successive Premier League defeats when they tackle Newcastle, a team that is back in contention for a top 4 finish following a three-match winning run.

With seven league games to go, the Welsh side have already secured Premiership survival and that speaks volumes about the team that were seen as one of the main candidates for the drop.

The Swans didn’t need a lot of time to prove the doubters wrong and they are now on the road to become a genuine mid table side.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have suffered a small dip in form of late as their three-match winning run was followed by defeats to Everton and Tottenham, but the game against high-flying Newcastle is a perfect opportunity to return to the right track.

In spite of Swansea’s recent results, odds of 2.40 (7/5) offered by Bodog on home win could be worth a shot.

Steven Caulker returns to the side after he was ineligible to face Tottenham, whereas Nathan Dyer is also expected to return to the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Vorm – Rangel, Caulker, Williams, Taylor – Allen, Britton – Dyer, Sigurdsson, Sinclair – Graham.

While Swansea definitely showed the most of the teams that had been expected to enter the relegation struggle, the surprise package of the season title has got to go to Newcastle.

Owner Mike Ashley was heavily criticized for the lack of ambition when he decided to cash in on star players Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique, but some shrewd dealings in the transfer market helped Alan Pardew create a very good squad for the new season.

As a result, Newcastle started the season brightly and never looked back, with their latest run of results seeing them close the gap behind fourth-placed Tottenham to just five points.

While Demba Ba has been unable to rediscover his scoring touch in the second part of the season, his compatriot Papiss Cisse stepped up the plate and scored 7 goals in as many Premier League games since his arrival.

The highly rated Senegalese is now 3.10 (21/10) with bet365 to score at any time, whereas Paddy Power has a special refund offer if Cisse scores the last goal in the game.

Fabricio Coloccini continues to miss out with a hamstring problem, while Danny Guthrie is an injury doubt. Sammy Ameobi, Steven Taylor, Sylvain Marveaux, Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands are all long-term worries.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Krul – Simpson, Perch, Williamson, Santon – Gutierrez, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa – Ba, Cisse.
