Queens Park Rangers vs Manchester City preview

Newly promoted Queens Park Rangers are looking to put a dent into Manchester City’s title hopes, although that is easier said than done given City’s current form.

Rangers have been far from impressive in the top flight, but they have also played several very good games and currently have no problems staying above the danger zone.

Neil Warnock’s side have only won one home game this term, having recorded a very lucky win over Chelsea, but they managed to bring six points from the travels, which is an excellent return for relegation strugglers.

The Rs were completely outclassed by Tottenham last weekend, and the 3:1 defeat was pretty easy on them considering the number of chances Spurs had missed.

The hosts are certainly hoping the same scenario will not be repeated when the play host to City, and with that in mind, you should know that QPR are 3.50 (5/2) with Stan James not to lose this game.

Danny Gabbidon is expected to return to the starting line-up after recovering from injury, but now Fitz Hall is doubtful. Jay Bothroyd could replace Heidar Helguson up front after scoring his first goal for the club.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Kenny – Young, Ferdinand, Gabbidon, Traore – Wright-Phillips, Faurlin, Derry, Barton – Taarabt – Bothroyd.

Even if some people had doubts over Roberto Mancini’s side, Manchester City have started this season with a bang and they look virtually unstoppable at the moment.

It is more than evident that the team have finally gelled properly, allowing Mancini to get the maximum out of his players, with City playing great football regardless of who makes the starting line-up.

The 3:0 away win over Villarreal was City’s seventh consecutive success as well as sixth match in that period in which they scored at least three goals, so odds of 2.25 (5/4) offered by bet365 on City to score over 2.5 goals do look tempting.

The Citizens are currently five points clear of their nearest rivals in the title race and are hoping to stay at the same distance after this round, with away win paying 1.36 (4/11) at William Hill.

Mancini rested several starters in midweek, meaning that Samir Nasri, Gareth Barry, Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards should return, while Stefan Savic is expected to replace suspended Vincent Kompany in the heart of defence.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Hart – Richards, Savic, Lescott, Kolarov – Y. Toure, Barry – Aguero, Silva, Nasri – Dzeko.
