Jose Mourinho has said that he is sure that midfielder Dele Alli will stay with the club this season despite reports linking him with a move away.

The Englishman has not featured in the club’s last two matchday squads and only played 45 minutes in their opening Premier League game against Everton, leading to suggestions he could leave North London.

Paris Saint Germain are currently favourites to sign the 24-year-old this summer but his manager Mourinho is confident that he will still be at the club come the closure of the transfer window.

Talking to Sky Sports News, the Portuguese said: “I believe [he will stay]. I can even say that I’m convinced that he will be.

“We all know since Dele arrived from MK Dons he had ups and downs, he had fabulous periods and he also had other periods where he disappeared from top-level performances. And with me it’s no different than before.”

He could yet be recalled into the Spurs side on Thursday evening as the club attempt to negotiate their UEFA Europa League qualifier Shkendija. Tottenham are understandably overwhelming favourites to progress to the next round of qualification at a price of 1/80 with Betfair, whilst the hosts sit at 10/1.
