Liverpool vs West Ham United Preview

Sunday’s early kick-off in the Premier League sees a Liverpool side, still with an outside chance of qualifying for European competition for next season host West Ham United, who have all but secured their Premier League status.

The hosts are in good form having won four of their last five games, and currently sit five points behind fifth place Arsenal, and a further two behind the Champions League qualification places.

Brendan Rogers has no fresh injury concerns for the game, with Joe Allen, Martin Kelly and Fabio Borini all long-term absentees.

Top scorer Luis Suarez is favourite to open the scoring at 4.0 (3/1) with William Hill, with Steven Gerrard, who has netted two penalties in his last three games, a 7.5 (13/2) chance.

The home win is best priced at 1.36 (4/11) with Coral, with West Ham a 10.0 (9/1) shot with the same firm. The draw is 5.5 (9/2) with Betfred.

Sam Allardyce’s men moved up to eleventh place with victory over West Bromwich Albion last weekend, and with thirty-six points seem almost certain to have quashed any fears of an immediate return to the Championship.

Striker Andy Carroll, who scored twice last time out, is ineligible to face his parent club, so Carlton Cole or Marouane Chamakh are set to deputise.

Joe Cole has an injured hamstring, so will also miss out on a return to Anfield, while Mark Noble is out with a shoulder problem.
Kevin Nolan is 15.0 (14/1) to get the first goal with a variety of firms with Gary O’Neil, who got his first of the season a week ago is generously priced at 41.0 (40/1) with Paddy Power.

The Hammers have not won in their last forty-one trips to Anfield, and have not scored since the 2-1 defeat at the beginning of the 2006/2007 campaign five visits ago, and Paddy Power offer a price of 2.4 (7/5) for Liverpool to once again win without conceding.

The reverse fixture at Upton Park back in December featured no fewer than five goals, with the Reds taking all three points having trailed at half time.

There is a price of 29.0 (28/1) available from several firms for the Hammers to once again surrender a first half lead, and go on to lose the game.
