Sunday afternoon’s game at Anfield sees seventh place Liverpool host a Tottenham Hotspur side looking to cement their place in the top three.

The hosts go in to the game on the back of three straight wins, including league victories against Swansea City and Wigan Athletic.

Victory for Brendon Rodgers men would see them move to within two points of fifth place Arsenal, and eight behind a Champions League spot with nine games left to play.

Martin Skrtel is set to make the substitute bench after recovering from injury, while Daniel Sturridge should make his first appearance in three weeks after overcoming a thigh problem.

Premier League top scorer Luis Suarez is favourite to get the first goal of the game, with most bookmakers offering a price of 5.5 (9/2) while Philippe Coutinho, who has looked impressive since signing from Inter Milan in January, is widely available at 9.0 (8/1).

Paddy Power has the home win at a best price of 1.95 (19/20), with Spurs a 4.33 (10/3) shot with Betfred. The draw is 3.9 (29/10) with Sky Bet.

The visitors go in to the game in superb form, with the FA Cup fourth round loss to Leeds their only defeat in their last seventeen games.

The game may come too soon for Clint Dempsey and Tom Huddlestone who have calf and knee problems respectively, while Aaron Lennon is doubtful having suffered a hamstring injury in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Inter Milan. Emmanuel Adebayor looks set to return having recovered from a knee injury.

Gareth Bale is 7.0 (6/1) with Paddy Power to open the scoring with what would be his eleventh goal in eight games, while Gylfi Sigurdsson is a 12.0 (11/1) shot having scored two in his last three outings.

Tottenham have won seven of the last ten competitive meetings between the sides, including the 2-1 victory at White Hart Lane in this seasons reverse fixture back in November, when Bale scored at both ends.

With arguably the two best players in the division going head to head, you may be tempted to back the 3.0 (2/1) offered by Bet Victor that there was be two or more goals scored by Suarez and Bale combined.
