Tottenham vs Inter preview

Tottenham vs InterTwo years back the two sides played out two entertaining encounters as they met in the Champions League group stages, and there is every chance we will see some more great football when Tottenham and Inter square off again.

Spurs have just made a giant step towards the Premiership top 4 finish, having beaten arch rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane, and that win served as a perfect introduction into the Inter clash.

Tottenham have done pretty well in Europe this term, even if they finished second in their group behind Lazio and were on the verge of elimination in the first knockout round.

It was Gareth Bale who came to the rescue in Lyon, scoring a late goal to see his side through, and, after bagging 9 goals in last 7 matches, the Welshman is 2.40 (7/5) at Sportingbet to continue his amazing scoring run.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are 1.80 (4/5) with Paddy Power to beat Inter for the second time in a row at White Hart Lane, having recorded a 3-1 win last time out.

Andre Villas-Boas is set to make a couple of changes to the side that masterminded a victory over Arsenal, with William Gallas, Kyle Naughton, Lewis Holtby and Brad Friedel all expected to start.

Jermain Defoe could also be in the starting line-up following a great cameo role at the weekend, but Younes Kaboul, Tom Huddlestone, Clint Dempsey and Sandro continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Friedel – Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Naughton – Parker, Dembele – Lennon, Bale, Holtby – Defoe.

This has been an extremely difficult season for Inter, but the team have somehow managed to cope with everything thrown their way.

Numerous injuries, lack of experience and the latest clash between Stramaccioni and Cassano have made life difficult for the Neroazzurri, but it appears that nothing can stop the Italian giants this term.

After recording a 5-0 aggregate victory over Cluj in the Europa League first knockout round, Inter managed to hold red-hot Milan to 1-1 draw at San Siro, before coming from two goals behind to win at Stadio Angelo Massimino, arguably one of the most difficult grounds in Serie A.

This is enough to suggest that the Neroazzurri are not without chances at White Hart Lane, with away win paying 5.00 (4/1) at BetVictor.

New signing Zdravko Kuzmanovic is ineligible having represented Stuttgart in the competition this season, whilst Fredy Guarin and Andrea Ranocchia are injury doubts.

Antonio Cassano is set to return after he was left out of the squad to face Catania, but Milito, Samuel, Mudingayi, Nagatomo, Silvestre, Obi and Castellazzi remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Handanovic – Zanetti, Chivu, Juan, Pereira – Kovacic, Gargano, Cambiasso – Alvarez – Cassano, Palacio.
