Holloway: We can beat United to stay up

Blackpool boosted their survival chances with an impressive win over Bolton, but it looks as though they will need to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in order to stay alive.

The Tangerines boss Ian Holloway believes that his team can stay up, especially since Manchester United won’t have any special motives in that game having already clinched the Premiership title.

“That’s four games unbeaten – and anyone who’s seen the last four games can tell that Blackpool are back and looking like we did at the start of the season,” Holloway was quoted as saying.

“Blow me down with this fairytale we’re all on, this story that has been unfolding for the last two years… we’ve got to go to Manchester United and probably get a win – and that might not even be enough.

“I believe it will be, though, because Wolves are at home to Blackburn.

“I’ve had some strange things happen in my life and maybe the main man up there has written a story that would probably beat Cinderella.

“And I believe we can do it, whoever they put out. I want to spoil their party.”

The Seasiders currently sit in the relegation zone tied on points with 17th-placed Birmingham, who have a game in hand, but they are also just one point behind Blackburn and Wolves.

This basically means that a win at Old Trafford would guarantee them survival, and that is why Blackpool are 3.50 (5/2) with 888Sport to avoid the drop.
