GerrardLiverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has received some very good news as key players Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge look to be recovering well from their respective injuries.

Steven Gerrard is nearing his return after recovering from a shoulder surgery and he is about to resume full training just in time for the pre-season tour.

“Steven Gerrard is still being modified, but he is about to enter all out training,” Liverpool head of performance Glen Driscoll told club’s official website.

Meanwhile, Daniel Sturridge is still undergoing treatment for an ankle injury he picked up on international duty, but he should still be ready for the start of the season.

“Daniel Sturridge is the only player in the squad not training at the moment, but he’s progressing really well and he’s still on target to make the start of the season,” Driscoll added.

Martin Kelly, Joe Allen and Raheem Sterling have all fully recovered from injury and have already taken part in pre-season training.

Having signed the likes of Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto, Liverpool are hoping to finally mount a serious top 4 challenge next term, with the Reds 3.50 (5/2) at Betfair to succeed in their quest.
