Danny WelbeckArsenal manager Arsene Wenger has moved to confirm that Danny Welbeck is doubtful for the European Championship finals after suffering a knee injury.

The England star had looked sharp after returning from a lengthy lay-off in February, but he suffered a knee ligament injury in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City, mere four days before Roy Hodgson is set to name his preliminary Euro 2016 squad.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the injury is serious, but was not ready to make any predictions for the forward’s involvement at the Euros.

“The first signs look like lateral meniscus,” Wenger said at a post match press conference. “He looks down, and he’s not a guy who likes to go off. I’m a bit worried. I don’t want to say about the Euros – let’s be a bit more optimistic.”

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had been earlier ruled out through injury, but the good news is that Jack Wilshere is looking good at the moment.

The talented footballer has made his second appearance of the season, replacing Danny Welbeck against Man City, and he is now 1.67 (2/3) to make the Euro 2016 squad.
