Tom CleverleyManchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley was forced to withdraw from international duty because of a calf problem.

The talented footballer was called by Roy Hodgson for friendlies against Republic of Ireland and Brazil, but the calf injury he picked up in the final game of the season against West Brom eventually got the best of him.

The FA announced on Sunday that the 23-year-old would not be taking part in the two international friendlies this week.

Manchester City hotshot Jack Rodwell had earlier been called as a potential replacement, meaning no new players will be called at this time.

Steven Gerrard and Jack Wilshire are both missing through injury, but Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick are in the squad.

England face Republic of Ireland on Wednesday at Wembley and they are 1.50 (1/2) with Betfred to see off their neighbours.
