Chelsea vs TottenhamPremier League leaders Chelsea eliminated Liverpool to earn a chance to compete for the first major trophy of the season and they are the favourites to win at Wembley.

Their local rivals Tottenham enjoyed a victory over the Blues in the 2008 final and they hope to do it all over again seven years later.

Chelsea made some excellent signings in the summer without disrupting the balance of the side and that has proved crucial to their chances of turning this season into a success.

The Blues did crash out of the FA Cup following the embarrassing defeat to Bradford City, but they have been quite impressive on other fronts.

Chelsea are in a good position to reach the Champions League quarter-finals having held PSG to a 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes, while the Premiership trophy is theirs to lose.

But, they will certainly be very motivated to secure the first title of the season and they are available at 1.70 (7/10) to defeat Tottenham in the League Cup final.

Jose Mourinho will be without important midfielder Nemanja Matic, who starts a two-match ban, but there are no other major selection worries.

With John Obi Mikel still sidelined through injury, Brazilian Ramires is expected to deputize for the Serbia international on Sunday.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Courtois – Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta – Ramires, Fabregas – Willian, Oscar, Hazard – Costa.

Tottenham have enjoyed very little success since the aforementioned victory over Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final, although they did finish as runners up next term, losing to Man Utd on penalties.

In spite of the heavy spending, Spurs have since struggled to keep up with England’s top sides and it looks as though they will again miss out on Champions League qualification.

Tottenham are already out of the FA Cup and Europa League, while sitting three points behind top 4 positions in the Premiership standings, so they are not exactly in confident mood ahead of the trip to Wembley.

But, having already hammered Chelsea 5-3 this season, Spurs are available at 3.50 (5/2) to lift the coveted trophy on Sunday afternoon.

The good news is there are absolutely no selection problems for Mauricio Pochettino, with a number of star players set to be recalled after they were rested in midweek.

Having featured in each League Cup game this season, summer recruit Michel Vorm should be preferred to captain Hugo Lloris.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Vorm – Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose – Mason, Bentaleb – Townsend, Eriksen, Lamela – Kane.
