Roma vs BayernHaving seriously boosted their hopes of reaching the knockout stages with a 1-1 draw at Etihad, Roma can make another major step if they happen to beat star-studded Bayern Munich at Stadio Olimpico.

The Bavarians currently lead the race in Group E with maximum points, but they are likely to face a stern test in Rome.

AS Roma appear on the road to return to old glory days seeing as how they have started to challenge for major honours on domestic stage, while showing plenty of promise in Europe as well.

The controversial defeat to title rivals Juventus ended their perfect record in Serie A, but the Giallorossi responded well to hammer Chievo 3-0 at the weekend.

Meanwhile, team’s Champions League campaign has been progressing well, with 5-1 victory over CSKA Moscow followed by a 1-1 draw against Manchester City.

Roma now have a very good chance to all but secure their place in the next stage and they can be backed at 4.00 (3/1) to defeat Bayern Munich.

The likes of Alessandro Florenzi, Gervinho and Kostas Manolas should be recalled, while Juan Manuel Iturbe will be available as well.

Daniele De Rossi has returned into action, but Seydou Keita, Kevin Strootman, Leandro Castan, Federivo Balzaretti and Marco Borriello are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): De Sanctis – Maicon, Manolas, Astori, Cole – Pjanic, De Rossi, Nainggolan – Florenzi, Totti, Gervinho.

Bayern Munich may have started the new season with the German Super Cup loss to arch rivals Borussia Dortmund, but the defeat seem to have served as a wake-up call for Pep Guardiola’s charges.

The Bavarians have since won nine of next eleven matches in all competitions, while league draws against Schalke and Hamburg did not prove too costly.

Bayern opened up a four-point lead at the Bundesliga summit by winning last four league fixtures, but it is their run of eight straight clean sheets that has stole the headlines.

With the Bavarians putting six past Werder Bremen at the weekend, they have been made 2.05 (21/20) favourites to defeat Roma on Tuesday.

Franck Ribery’s return has been a major boost for everyone at the club, but the Frenchman will probably have to settle for a place on the bench.

Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez and Holger Badstuber remain on the sidelines through injury.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-3): Neuer – Boateng, Dante, Alaba – Rafinha, Lahm, Alonso, Bernat – Robben, Lewandowski, Muller.
