Bayern vs ShakhtarFollowing the surprising goalless draw in the first leg, Bayern Munich will be looking to start the second match strongly and ensure there are no surprises at Alianz Arena.

Shakhtar, on the other hand, can be very proud of their performance three weeks ago, but that will not matter much if they fail to repeat another such display.

Bayern Munich are cruising towards another Bundesliga trophy, sitting 11 points clear at the top with 10 games to go, with high-flying Wolfsburg ultimately failing to mount a serious title challenge.

And having all but secured the league title, the Bavarians will want to prove their worth in the Champions League as well, but they have experienced some problems of late.

Bayern were pretty disappointing in the goalless draw with Shakhtar and they cannot afford another under-par performance if they want to make it to the quarter-finals.

The Bavarians are available at 1.65 (13/20) for a half-time/full-time win, but the players could be feeling the nerves until they score the first goal.

Bayern have been pretty impressive of late on domestic stage, scoring 15 goals in last 4 matches, but they will have bigger fish to fry on Wednesday evening.

Philipp Lahm is nearing a comeback after a three-month injury lay-off, but Xabi Alonso is banned after seeing red in L’viv.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Rafinha, Boateng, Badstuber, Bernat – Schweinsteiger, Alaba – Robben, Muller, Ribery – Lewandowski.

Shakhtar Donetsk have become a real force to be reckoned with in Europe over the years and this season has been particularly testing for the Ukranian giants.

Despite staging their home games in L’Viv rather than in Donetsk, the Pitmen managed to get past the group stage, but were pretty unfortunate to be drawn alongside mighty Bayern in the first knockout stage.

With their domestic season interrupted by the winter break, Shakhtar staged a tour of Brazil in order to ensure they are well prepared for the clash with the Bavarians and the risky decision produced great results.

The Pitmen matched their more illustrious opponents for large periods of the match in L’viv, although they missed the opportunity to win after Xabi Alonso had been sent off.

Shakhtar now face another difficult task against Bayern Munich, and they are no less than 7.50 (13/2) to qualify for the next stage.

The visitors should have Alex Teixeira back to the side, but Yaroslav Rakitskiy, Sergey Krivtsov and Ivan Ordets are rated doubtful and Bernard is definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Pyatov – Srna, Kucher, Stepanenko, Shevchuk – Fred – Douglas Costa, Ilsinho, Taison, Alex Teixeira – Luiz Adriano.
