Atletico vs BarcaWith Real Madrid slowly getting away in the La Liga title chase, both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will be eager to win Wednesday’s encounter at Camp Nou.

Since losing the league trophy on the final day of the 2013/2014 season with a 1-1 draw against los Colchoneros, the Catalans have won four straight home games against Diego Simeone’s team.

Barcelona have done pretty well in the opening exchanges, scoring goals for fun as they usually do, but were surprisingly beaten by newcomers Deportivo Alaves at Camp Nou.

Luis Enrique had decided to rest his key men after the international break, but eventually paid the price for a risky strategy.

Nevertheless, Barcelona will have plenty of chances to make things right, starting from the high-profile game against Atletico Madrid.

The Catalans have been in excellent form since said setback, scoring 12 goals in back to back wins over Celtic and Leganes, and they are now 1.62 (5/8) to defeat los Colchoneros as well.

Coach Luis Enrique surprisingly used 3-4-3 formation in the victory over Leganes, but he is expected to revert to 4-3-3 for the Atletico game.

That means that Sergi Roberto will come in for Rafinha, while Sergio Busquets will replace Javier Mascherano in the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): ter Stegen – Roberto, Pique, Umtiti, Alba – Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta – Messi, Suarez, Neymar.

Atletico Madrid didn’t start the current season the way they wanted to, sharing spoils with newly-promoted Deportivo Alaves and Leganes.

However, they have since showed remarkable improvement and went on to score 10 goals in victories over Celta Vigo, PSV Eindhoven and Sporting Gijon.

What is more, los Colchoneros did not concede a single goal in the process, so they clearly head into the Barcelona game in very good spirits.

Atletico will have revenge on their minds having lost on last four visits to Camp Nou, and that will serve as an extra motive for the visitors to give their best.

Even though Diego Simeone’s experiment to play without a defence-minded midfielder worked against Sporting Gijon, Augusto Fernandez should return to the side.

Despite scoring a brace in said game, Fernando Torres will probably start from the bench, while Tiago Mendes and Miguel Angel Moya are out injured.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Oblak – Juanfran, Savic, Godin, Filipe Luis – Gaitan, Koke, Fernandez, Saul – Gameiro, Griezmann.
