With El Clasico rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona slowly getting away, chances are that Atletico Madrid and Sevilla will be vying for the final automatic Champions League berth.

Even though Sevilla hold a five-point advantage at the moment, everything suggests we will witness a highly entertaining encounter at Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid didn’t quite manage to keep up with their La Liga title rivals, and it is now clear they will not be challenging for the coveted trophy.

However, los Colchoneros are doing just fine in Europe’s elite competition and they hope to make it to their third final in four years.

Should they succeed in their quest, Atletico will be hoping for a different outcome this time out having twice been beaten to the title by local rivals Real Madrid, but there are two more obstacles to negotiate.

While they are eagerly awaiting news from Nyon and the Champions League quarter-final draw, los Colchoneros are preparing for the league clash against Sevilla, hoping to close the gap behind the third-placed side.

Seeing as how they are unbeaten in last eight home games vs los Rojiblancos (W4 D4), Atletico Madrid look a good bet at 1.70 (7/10) to claim maximum points.

The good news is that Kevin Gameiro is back in contention after missing the last two games, whereas Gabi and Juanfran are available as well.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Oblak – Vrsaljko, Savic, Godin, Filipe Luis – Koke, Gabi, Saul, Carrasco – Griezmann, Gameiro.

Three successive setbacks have seriously derailed what has been a very promising season for Sevilla and it is now up to Jorge Sampaoli to ensure his side return to the right track as soon as possible.

Two missed penalties proved the turning point in the Champions League tie against Leicester City and denied los Rojiblancos a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals, while the team have experienced problems on domestic stage as well.

Back to back setbacks against Deportivo Alaves and Leganes saw Sevilla slip to third in the standings and they now trail leaders Real Madrid five points, while los Blancos have a game in hand.

But, even though their title push may be over, los Rojiblancos need to get their campaign back on track or risking missing out on automatic Champions League berth.

Jorge Sampaoli is counting the costs of the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City, as he’s got quite a few important players battling injury.

According to the club’s official website, Nico Pareja, David Soria, Joaquin Correa and Adil Rami all face fitness tests. The only positive is that Michael Krohn-Dehli has resumed training after missing last 11 months of action.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): Rico – Lenglet, Mercado, Rami – Mariano, Nasri, N’Zonzi, Sarabia – Jovetic, Vazquez – Ben Yedder.
