Villarreal vs Bayer Leverkusen preview

Villarreal produced quite a coup by winning the first leg 3:2 despite the fact that Juan Carlos Garrido had fielded an under strength side in Leverkusen.

The Yellow Submarine won the game thanks to the last gasp effort from Nilmar and they are now determined to build on that result and make it to the Europa League quarter-finals.

Villarreal then missed a chance to cement the fourth place in the La Liga standings, having failed to beat Sporting Gijon at home, but they now aim to make things right by winning this clash.

Marcos Senna and Angel Lopez continue to miss out, while Marcos Ruben, Carlos Marchena and Catala should start as coach Garrido continues to rotate his squad.

Bayer Leverkusen dominated the large periods of the first leg but they ended up losing the game and they now face an uphill task at El Madrigal.

Meanwhile, the Germans closed the gap behind Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund to nine points as they beat Mainz away, once again proving they play really well on the travels.

Having won 8 out of last 10 away games, Bayer have every reason to believe they can produce an upset in Villarreal and they are 3.60 (13/5) at Bet365 to win the game.

Captain Simon Rofles returns to the side after being rested against Mainz, but Manuel Friedrich and Tranquillo Barnetta remain long-term worries.

While Villarreal are just 1.11 (1/9) at 888Sport to qualify for the next round, Bayer Leverkusen are 6.50 (11/2) at Sportingbet to overturn the deficit and make it to the quarter-finals.
