Uruguay vs France preview

France vs UruguayThis will be the final warm-up game for Uruguay before the World Cup qualifier against Venzuela and the start of the Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Meanwhile, France boss Didier Deschamps is using the match in Montevideo to test some up-and-coming players before the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign resumes.

The 2010 World Cup semi-finalists and 2011 Copa America winners have been on a major downtrend of late and they are in desperate need of a morale-boosting victory.

La Celeste are winless in last six qualifying games, and currently sit two points adrift of a World Cup berth, while they have fared much better in international friendlies.

Uruguay shared spoils with Russia and France away before beating Poland, although they did lose their last friendly match to Spain.

Nevertheless, with les Bleus arriving with experimental squad, there may be some value in betting on home win at odds of 2.30 (13/10) at Coral.

With the Venezuela qualifier a week away, Oscar Tabarez can be trusted to field his strongest line-up against France.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Muslera – M. Pereira, Godin, Lugano, A. Pereira – Gonzalez, Gargano, Ramirez – Lodeiro – Suarez, Cavani.

Didier Deschamps took over the reigns following yet another disappointing display at tournament finals, but les Bleus haven’t shown a lot of improvement since crashing out of Euro 2012 in group stage.

France look set to lose the battle with Spain for the first place in their qualifying group, while their performances in international friendlies have left a lot to be desired.

While beating Italy away, les Bleus could only muster a goalless draw with Uruguay, whereas they were beaten by both Japan and Germany at home.

This should make the players motivated to improve their poor run of results in Uruguay, but I see little value in odds of 3.70 (27/10) offered at BetVictor on away win.

Didier Deschamps has opted to leave a number of star players out of the squad, with Alexandre Lacazette, Clement Grenier, Eliaquim Mangala and Joshua Guilavogui set to earn their first caps.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Mandanda – Sagna, Kocielny, Mangala, Tremoulinas – Capoue, Matuidi – Payet, Valbuena, Gourcuff – Giroud.
