Estadio Nueva Condomina in Murcia will will be the setting of a high-profile international friendly between European powerhouses Spain and Colombia, one of South America’s leading sides in recent years.

La Furia Roja enjoyed a bright start to the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign under new boss Julen Lopetegui, and they are currently level on points with second-placed Italy.

Spain also fared well in international friendlies, defeating Belgium and France while sharing spoils with England, and they have been made 4/7 favourites to defeat Colombia as well.

Real Madrid stars Sergio Ramos, Isco and Daniel Carvajal will miss the clash against Los Cafeteros as they were allowed extra time to rest after winning the Champions League final.

However, their teammates Alvaro Morata, Marco Asensio and Nacho joined the camp on Monday and they will be in contention.

Sergi Roberto misses out with a muscle problem, whereas Inaki Williams and Hector Bellerin have joined the Under-21 squad.

Javi Martinez, Ander Herrera, Aritz Aduriz, Lucas Vazquez and Jose Callejon all miss out, while Gerard Deulofeu, Asier Illarramendi and Iago Aspas are included.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): De Gea – Azpilicueta, Pique, Nacho, Alba – Thiago, Busquets, Iniesta – Vitolo, Diego Costa, Isco.

Colombia have been making giant strides under Jose Pekerman, although they haven’t quite managed to realise their full potential.

While achieving a third-place finish at the 2016 Copa America Centenario, Los Cafeteros did well in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, climbing to second in the overall standings.

However, with four games to go, Colombia sit just two points clear of fifth-placed Argentina, although they have a favourable fixture list.

June friendlies against Spain and Cameroon will serve as a good preparation for crucial qualifiers vs Venezuela and Brazil, so no doubt that Jose Pekerman and his charges will want to do well in Murcia.

The good news is that the likes of James Rodriguez, Juan Cuadrado, Yerry Mina and Miguel Borja have joined the squad, although Deportivo Cali goalkeeper Camilo Vargas has yet to arrive.

Radamel Falcao, Carlos Bacca and Teo Gutierrez are all in the mix, as is Ajax’s free-scoring defender Davinson Sanchez.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Ospina – Arias, Mina, Zapata, Armero – Aguilar, Sanchez – Cuadrado, James, Cardona – Falcao.
