Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi should be fit to face Spain in tonight’s international friendly, according to Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli.

The captain missed the 2-0 triumph over Italy in Manchester due to a muscle injury, but he appears to have overcome the problem.

Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli went to confirm that Messi has trained normally, so he is expected to play against Spain, where los Albicelestes are 4.00 (3/1) to emerge victorious.

“Before the game against Italy, Leo said he could not play. But he has trained the last two days,” Sampaoli said.

Lionel Messi is under intense pressure to lead Argentina to World Cup glory at what could be his final appearance at the biggest international tournament.

Los Albicelestes will be facing Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in group stage and they shouldn’t have too many problems reaching the knockout stages.

Argentina came really close to the long-awaited trophy in Brazil, losing to Germany in the final, but they will have a tough time reaching the final stages in Russia.
