Juventus vs Catania preview

Juventus missed a chance to return to the top of the standings as they failed to beat Parma, but the Bianconeri can make things right by beating Catania in Turin.

Antonio Conte’s side are the perfect example of how a European campaign or the lack of it can affect a team fighting for honours.

With no European distractions, the Bianconeri have been absolutely brilliant on domestic stage as they are now the main candidates for the league title and are on the verge of qualifying for Coppa Italia final.

Twenty five games into the season and the Old Lady are still unbeaten, which is an amazing feat for the team playing in one of the strongest European leagues.

Juventus did fail to beat Parma at Ennio Tardini, but a goalless draw away to in-form il Ducali can hardly be considered a poor result.

The Bianconeri produced a stunning performance in that match, having completely dominated the proceedings, and odds of 1.33 (1/3) offered by Paddy Power on Juventus to beat Catania do look tempting.

With Pepe likely to return from injury, Antonio Conte is set to revert to 4-3-3 formation, although Luca Marrone and Arturo Vidal miss out through injury and suspension respectively.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Buffon – Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Giaccherini, Pirlo, Marchisio – Pepe, Matri, Vucinic.

Catania have been showing a lot of improvement following the somewhat slow start to the season and they look set for another mid table finish.

After the back to back defeats to Bologna and Udinese were followed by home draws against Parma and Roma, the Elephants produced a brilliant display to record a 4-0 win over Genoa, so they are now brimming with confidence.

Catania remain one of the worst travelers in the elite division, having won just one of ten away games, but Vincenzo Montella’s side did manage to avoid defeat away to Lazio, Fiorentina, Atalanta, Parma and Lecce.

The Elephants are expected to adopt a defence-minded approach, and odds of 2.00 (1/1) offered by Ladbrokes on Juventus to win to nil look too good to pass.

Giuseppe Bellusci returns from suspension, but Alessandro Potenza, Ciro Capuano, David Suazo and Andrea Campagnolo are all sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Kosicky – Bellusci, Legrottaglie, Spolli, Marchese – Izco, Lodi, Almiron – Barrientos, Bergessio, Gomez.
