Borussia Dortmund will be desperate to end a five-match winless run in Bundesliga when they take on high-flying Schalke, a team that are sitting pretty in second place in the standings.

Former Ajax boss Peter Bosz finds himself under a great deal of pressure after the Champions League exit and some shocking results on domestic stage.

A bright start to the season that had seen Borussia climb to Bundesliga summit was followed by a free fall that has yet to end.

Having taken just one point from maximum 15, the Millionaires now occupy fifth place in the overall standings trailing leaders Bayern Munich nine points.

Borussia players were hoping to end a barren run in midweek against Tottenham, but Spurs ended up winning after coming from a goal behind, piling more misery on BVB.

The Millionaires face another difficult game as they play host to red-hot Schalke and they can be backed at 1.80 (4/5) to finally return to winning ways.

Christian Pulisic is back in contention after recovering from a muscle problem, but Roman Burki and Sokratis Papastathopoulos face fitness tests.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Burki – Toljan, Sokratis, Bartra, Guerreiro – Castro, Weigl, Gotze – Yarmolenko, Aubameyang, Pulisic.

Schalke have had their share of problems in recent years, but the new campaign is enough to suggest they are slowly returning to the right track.

The Miners have done incredibly well in first 12 fixtures, recording 7 wins and 2 draws to climb to second in the overall standings.

Schalke have been especially impressive of late, winning four of last five fixtures, while playing out a 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg at home.

The Miners are aware this is as good time as any to be facing out-of-sorts Dortmund and it is important to note they have won four of last five matches on the road.

The good news is that key midfielder Leon Goretzka has resumed training and he looks fit to play, just like Benjamin Stambouli.

Probable starting line-up (3-1-4-2): Fahrmann – Stambouli, Naldo, Kehrer – Meyer – Caligiuri, McKennie, Goretzka, Oczipka – Di Santo, Burgstaller.
