FA-cup

Wednesday evening’s game at Ewood Park sees Blackburn Rovers face Liverpool in their FA Cup quarter final replay.

The two sides cancelled each other out when they met at Anfield last month, and will battle once more for the right to face Aston Villa in the semi-finals, which are set to take place at Wembley the weekend after next.

Since the stalemate on Merseyside, Gary Bowyer’s men have won three and lost two in the Championship, a run which has all but ended their slim hopes of making the play-offs so they are set to go all out to progress in this, a competition they have won on six occasions, just once less than their opponents.

Jay Spearing, who is on loan from Bolton Wanderers, will not face his former side as the midfielder is cup-tied, while Rudy Gestede, Craig Conway Grant Hanley, Josh King are all injury doubts.

Jordan Rhodes, who is yet to score in Rovers’ cup run this season, is 9.0 (8/1) to open the scoring with a variety of firms, while Craig Conway is a 29.0 (28/1) shot with Bet 365.

The home win is 6.0 (5/1) with Bet 365, with the draw a 4.0 (3/1) chance. The visitors can be backed at a widely available price of 1.66 (4/6).

Back to back league defeats have seen Liverpool fall seven points behind the top four in the top flight, and with Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton hot on their heels the Reds will be keen to secure European qualification by going all the way in the cup.

Brendan Rodgers will be unable to call upon suspended trio Martin Skrtel, Steven Gerrard and Emre Can, while Mario Balotelli faces a late fitness test.

Daniel Sturridge is favourite to get the first goal of the game at 4.75 (15/4) with Bet 365, with Raheem Sterling a 6.5 (11/2) shot with the same firm.

Prior to the goalless draw in March, both teams have scored in the previous five encounters, so you may be tempted to back them to do so this time around at 1.91 (10/1) with William Hill.
