FA-cup

The FA Cup action continues at Kingsmeadow this evening where League Two side AFC Wimbledon host seven-time winners Liverpool.

The tie evokes memories of the 1988 Cup final where the original Wimbledon shocked the Merseyside, and the majority of those watching with a narrow 1-0 victory

The intervening twenty-six years have not exactly gone the way either side would have hoped – with the once dominant Reds winning just one league title since while the London club’s demise is well documented.

Indeed, this is the first time the reformed club, who are in their thirteenth season, have been in this stage of this competition and manager Neil Ardley has full-back Barry Fuller and
midfielder Sammy Moore available for the tie after recovering from injury and illness respectively while loan defenders Adam Barrett and Jake Goodman will each play for the last time before returning to their parent clubs.

Top scorer Matt Tubbs, who has two goals in the cup so far this season is 13.0 (12/1) to get the first goal of the game with Bet Victor, with Adebayo Akinfenwa a 15.0 (14/1) chance with a variety of firms.

The home win is as highly priced as the 12.0 (11/1) on offer from a variety of bookmakers, with the visitors odds on for the victory at 1.29 (2/7) with Bet 365, who price the draw at 6.5 (11/2).

Liverpool, who have lost just one of their last eleven games last reached the cup final in 2012, with their last victory coming six years earlier.

Manager Brendan Rodgers could recall centre-backs Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren, while captian Steven Gerrard is likely to be rested, or at most make the bench.

Mario Balotelli, who should be fit in time to feature is 4.5 (7/2) to open the scoring with Bet 365, with Raheem Sterling a 5.5 (9/2) chance with 888 Sport.

The visitors have scored two or more in nine of their last eleven FA Cup ties, and can be backed at a price of 1.29 (2/7) with Coral to do so this time around.
