Sevilla vs Valencia 0-0Following the controversial 2-0 defeat in the first leg, Valencia will attempt to create a major surprise and qualify for the Europa League final.

Sevilla are well in the driving seat at the moment, but weekend’s 3-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao was hardly the perfect introduction into the clash at Mestalla.

Unless they can pull off a major shock and win the Europa League title, this will go down as a pretty disappointing season for Valencia.

Los Che will have to work hard in the remaining three league fixtures if they want to achieve a top table finish, while they also face an uphill task in the return leg against Sevilla.

Juan Antonio Pizzi’s side had some refereeing decisions go against them in the first match, but their performance will have to improve as well if they want to stand any chance of progressing into the final.

After the 5-0 triumph over FC Basel in their previous Europa League fixture on home soil, Valencia have been made 2.25 (5/4) favourites for the win.

First choice striker Paco Alcacer is set to miss out through suspension, with Brazilian attacker Jonas likely to replace him in the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Juan Bernat and Diego Alves have resumed full training, but Oriol Romeu and Philippe Senderos remain on the sidelines. Victor Ruiz is doubtful.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Guaita – Pereira, Costa, Mathieu, Bernat – Parejo, Keita – Feghouli, Vargas, Fede – Jonas.

Some excellent displays in the second part of the season saw Sevilla in a position to fight for Europa League title and a top 4 finish in La Liga, but los Rojiblancos were unable to meet both of these objectives.

The weekend’s 3-1 defeat at the New San Mames virtually ended team’s Champions League hopes, but everybody at the club will be happy another European qualification is in the bag.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery’s charges edged closer to winning the third Europa League (UEFA Cup) title in history by recording a 2-0 win over Valencia in the first leg of the semi-final.

Los Rojblancos produced another impressive showing at their Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and they are now 3.40 (12/5) to win the return match as well.

Unai Emery has had quite a few important players feeling the strain of the long season, but the likes of Rakitic, Reyes and M’Bia are set to be recalled after they were rested at the weekend.

Daniel Carrico is battling an ankle problem, whilst Cicinho, Denis Cheryshev and Sebastian Cristoforo are definitely out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Beto – Coke, Fazio, Pareja, Navarro – Iborra, M’Bia – Vitolo, Rakitic, Reyes – Bacca.
