Wayne RooneyManchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that captain Wayne Rooney is set to undergo a scan on injured knee on Wednesday.

The forward was surprisingly left out of Tuesday’s 2-1 triumph over Stoke City before it was revealed that he had suffered a knee problem against Hull City.

The extend of the damage has yet to be determined, with Louis van Gaal revealing that his captain was set to undergo a scan.

“He will have a scan and then we will know more,” said Van Gaal. “I hope the injury is not so serious.”

Manchester United have been plagued with injuries from the very start to the season, but they have, nonetheless, managed to get their campaign back on track.

Last night’s victory over Stoke City was their fourth in a row, and the Red Devils can now be backed at 1.36 (4/11) to achieve a top 4 finish.
