Watford vs Chelsea Preview

Monday evening’s Premier League action kicks off at Vicarage Road where Watford take on champions Chelsea.

The hosts are in eleventh place after the weekends other matches, while they have won just once in twelve league outings, a run that culminated in Wednesday evening’s 0-0 draw with Stoke City.

Despite being top of the bottom half of the table Javi Gracia’s side are just three points above the relegation zone and this game is the first of three meetings against sides in the top six coming in the next six weeks.

Tom Cleverley is unlikely to be involved after limping out of the stalemate at the Bet 365 Stadium and new signing Didier Ndong is serving the final game of a three game suspension.

Troy Deeney is priced at 10.0 (9/1) with William Hill to get the first goal of the game, with Andre Gray an 11.0 (10/1) chance with the same firm.

The home win is as highly priced as the 6.55 (61/11) on offer from Unibet, who have the draw at 4.25 (13/4) with the visitors a 1.57 (4/7) chance with most firms.

Antonio Conte’s side have won just one of their last four league games, a run that has seen them slip to fourth place and they go into this match just a point above fifth place Tottenham Hotspur, who earned a point late on against Liverpool on Sunday.

Victory here would see reclaim third spot and move to within three points of Manchester United in second though at kick-off they are a massive nineteen behind runaway leaders Manchester City.

Olivier Giroud and Emerson Palimieri are both in line to make their debuts while Willian and David Luiz are in contention after returning to fitness though Andreas Christensen and Alvaro Morara are both missing.

Giroud is favourite to open the scoring at 4.4 (17/5) with Unibet with Eden Hazard a 5.0 (4/1) shot with William Hill.

The last two meetings between the sides have seen at least six goals so you may be tempted to back that outcome at a price of 15.0 (14/1) with Betfair.
