Luis Suarez is odds on to secure a move to Arsenal after he told two British newspapers that he wants Liverpool to “honour an agreement” and let him leave.

The 26 year olds future at Anfield was plunged into doubt after he was suspended for ten matches for biting an opponent in April.

The Reds striker claimed that he no longer feels comfortable in England, citing the press of having gone too far in their criticism of him following a number of indiscretions during his Liverpool career that also include him racially abusing an opponent and making an offensive gesture to an away supporter.

“I gave absolutely everything last season, now all I want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement,” Suarez told reporters.

“Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season I’d be allowed to go.”

Arsenal have made two bids for the Uruguay international, both of which were rejected out of hand by the Merseyside club.

The latest of those offers was worth £40m plus a pound, a figure which the Gunners believed would trigger a release clause in the player’s contract, though it emerged that Liverpool were under no obligation to sell.

However Suarez, who recently withdrew from the Reds pre-season preparations through injury, looks likely to hand in a transfer request should Liverpool continue to dig their heels in.

Sky Bet offer a price of 1.5 (1/2) for the former Ajax man to move to the Emirates before the transfer window closes, while the same firm have odds of 5.5 (11/2) for Real Madrid to secure his services.

The Bernabeu is reportedly Suarez’s preferred destination for next season, though so far no bid has been forthcoming.

Elsewhere in the market, Chelsea are available at 13.0 (12/1), ahead of the 17.0 (16/1) on offer for Tottenham Hotspur or European Champions Bayern Munich, the latter of which were the first side to be linked with a move for the player in the close season.
