Boxing Day’s Premier League action kicks off at the Britannia Stadium where Stoke City take on Manchester United.

Mark Hughes’ side go in to the game on the back of last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace, though their unbeaten run of three games, during which they didn’t concede, prior to that loss put them amongst a whole host of sides pushing for towards the top six.

Victory here would see them, if only temporarily move up to eighth place, with the rest of the division set to play later in the day.

Geoff Cameron and Peter Crouch once again miss out along with long-term absentees Marco Muniesa and Stephen Ireland though the latter should be back in training in the New Year.

Mame Biram Diouf is priced at 8.5 (15/2) to open the scoring against his former club, with Bojan a 9.0 (8/1) chance with a variety of firms.

The home win is priced at 3.5 (5/2) with Bet Victor, with the visitors available at 2.4 (7/5) with Sky Bet. The draw can be backed at 3.3 (23/10) with 888 Sport.

Louis van Gaal’s side are without a win in six, losing their last three and now have slipped out of the Champions League qualification places though a return to winning ways here will see them move level on points with title favourites Manchester City.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is out as he serves the final game of a three match suspension while Matteo Darmian remains out with a hamstring injury but should be fit in time for face champions Chelsea on Monday.

Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney are each priced at 7.0 (6/1) to get the first goal of the game with a variety of firms with Juan Mata a 9.5 (17/2) shot with Bet Victor.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 1-1 draw on New Year’s Day, with United taking the points from the meeting at Old Trafford a month earlier.

Both teams have scored in four of the previous five clashes between the sides so you may be tempted to back that outcome this time around at 2.08 (13/12) with 888 Sport.
