Premier League

Monday evening’s Premier League action comes from Goodison Park where Everton take on Newcastle United.

The hosts go in to the game on the back of back-to-back draws – results which have seen them extend their winless run to three matches.

A return to winning ways here would see them leapfrog Leicester City into eighth place though the Foxes will have a game in hand while three points would also keep alive their feint hopes of finishing the season in the top seven, which would now certainly be enough to secure European qualification following Southampton’s exit from the FA Cup.

Sam Allardyce could name an unchanged side with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Mason Holgate still out with respective knee and ankle problems.

Wayne Rooney, who has scored more Premier League goals against Newcastle than any against any other side is 7.0 (6/1) to open the scoring with Unibet with Cenk Tosun favourite at 5.1 (41/10) with the same firm.

The home win is 2.38 (11/8) with Betfred with the away win as highly priced as the 3.45 (27/11) on offer from Unibet. The draw is widely available at 3.3 (23/10).

The visitors sit just one place and one point behind their opponents after a run of four straight league wins – the last of which coming against Arsenal eight days ago.

Rafael Benitez’s side can move level on points with Leicester with a win and have played a game less than the Toffees so will still have an eye on a top seven place themselves.

Islam Slimani is pushing for his first start for the club though Benitez may opt for the same eleven that started the win over the Gunners.

Ayoze Perez is 10.0 (9/1) to get the first goal of the game with William Hill with Matt Ritchie a 15.0 (14/1) shot with a variety of firms.

A Wayne Rooney goal was enough to separate the sides when they met at St. James’s Park back in December – the fourth time the Merseysiders have beaten the North East outfit in succession, and all of those wins came to nil.

You can back an Everton win to nil this time around at 3.7 (27/10) with a number of bookmakers.
