Serie A champions Juventus have had a quiet January transfer market.

Bianconeri have purchased the 19-year-old Austria striker Arnel Jakupovic who will remain at Empoli for the remainder of the season but made no other moves to bolster their ranks this winter.

Instead, Juventus are focusing on the existing players with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting on Thursday that the title-holders will hand out new contracts to veteran defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli.

The Juventus defensive pair is running out of contract at the end of the 2017/18 season but Bianconeri are keen to hold on to them for a little longer and will table a one-year extension to both of their players.

Giorgio Chiellini will reportedly be offered a deal that will include an option for a further year. In the meantime, the experienced defender made it quite clear that no surprises should be expected, reaffirming his commitment to the Serie A giants.

“In the next few months everything will happen with no problems. Soon, we will renew.”, he said.

Juventus are currently sitting in second in Serie A, trailing leaders Napoli by a single point.

Bianconeri nevertheless remain the biggest favourites to claim yet another Scudetto and can be backed at 2.00 (1/1) betting odds to lift the trophy at the end of the season.
