Tottenham vs West Bromwich

Tottenham closed the gap behind Manchester City to two points as they played an entertaining draw with Arsenal, meaning the Spurs now have to beat West Brom in order to keep their top 4 chances alive. The Baggies ended the great run of results as they lost to Chelsea, but being six points clear of the bottom three, Roy Hodgson’s side travel to White Hart Lane without any pressure.

Important point against Arsenal

Tottenham remained in contention for the Champions League place as they drew with Arsenal in midweek, with the 3:3 draw at White Hart Lane proving Spurs are one of the most entertaining sides in the Premiership. Harry Redknapp’s side came from two goals down to earn a valuable point, but seeing they are now two points adrift of City they have no reason but to attack West Brom from the off and try to win this game. Following a very hectic schedule, Spurs clearly benefited from having a full week to prepare for the Arsenal game and we could see them at their attacking best, just like in the previous home game against Stoke. Having scored three goals against both Stoke and Arsenal, Tottenham should have no problems continuing the great scoring run against attack-minded Baggies, so everything suggests we will see another enthralling encounter at White Hart Lane.

Harry Redknapp is expected to make some changes to the starting line-up, with Aaron Lennon, and Jermain Defoe likely to start, but King, Woodgate and Hutton remain sidelined.

First defeat under Roy Hodgson

Even though the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo looked like a poor decision at the time, Roy Hodgson have done a great job with West Brom, taking the team from the relegation zone to the top half of the table in the space of just two months. The Baggies did suffer the first defeat under Roy Hodgson as they were beaten by Chelsea last weekend, but nobody is worried by that result as West Brom are still six points clear of the relegation zone. Surprisingly or not, the Baggies continued to play attacking football under the former Fulham and Liverpool manager, as witnessed by the fact that the Baggies have scored and conceded in every one of their last eight games. Taking into account that Tottenham are likely to go all guns blazing at them, while leaving a lot of space behind, the trend looks likely to continue.

Apart from midfielder Graham Dorrans, Roy Hodgson will have full squad to choose from.

Verdict

We are bound to see goals in the match between two attack-minded sides, especially as Tottenham desperately need a win and West Brom can play without any pressure. The odds are almost the same on both teams to score and over 2.5 goals, so you can choose either of the markets.

Our prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Odds: 1.75 (3/4)
