Inverness vs Celtic

The Scottish Cup quarter-final tie was supposed to be played at the weekend, but the game was postponed due to adverse weather conditions and everybody is hoping it will go ahead this time. Celtic are obviously the favourites to go through, but Inverness will give their best to try and cause an upset.

Inverness doing well this term

Inverness won the First Division in style last year to return to the Scottish Premier League and even though they were predicted a tough survival fight, the Caley Thistle have done pretty well this season and they have already secured survival. The home win over Motherwell saw them return to contention for the play off places, as Inverness are now just one point behind Well. Terry Butcher’s side now want to prove their quality in the clash against Celtic, although they clearly lack the quality needed to match one of the best sides in Scotland. The hosts also face certain selection problems, which makes their life even more difficult before the Celtic game, although the players are clearly high on confidence after the impressive victory over Motherwell.

Jonny Hayes and Aaron Doran could return to contention after recovering from injuries, but David Proctor, Dani Sanchez, Kenny Gillet and Graeme Shinnie are not yet ready to return.

Celtic marching on

After the disappointing last season, Celtic squad underwent major changes in the summer and they had some problems at the start of this season, having been eliminated from Europe early on, but they soon hit the ground running and hinted this could be a very successful year for them. The Bhoys continued their rich vein of form going into the final stages of the season with their double win over Rangers giving the players a major boost before the decisive battles. Neil Lennon’s side have been playing really well of late and they look more than capable of beating Inverness and making it to the Scottish Cup semi-finals. With players like Ki, Brown, Ledley and Commons in the side, the Bhoys should have no problems gaining control of the game, which should eventually lead to easy victory for the visitors.

Danijel Majstorovic and Cha Du-Ri miss out through injury, while Mark Wilson and Scott Brown are suspended.

Verdict

Inverness have been in great form of late and they will not be afraid to attack Celtic, especially as the visitors have some problems at the back. We should see a very open game and even though Celtic are closer to winning this game, my advice is to bet on both teams to score.

Our prediction: Both teams to score
