Argentina trainingArgentina coach Alejandro Sabella has trimmed down his provisional World Cup squad to 26 names, with four players removed from the original 30-man squad.

There were no major surprises as the likes of Franco Di Santo, Fabian Rinaudo, Gabriel Mercado and Lisandro Lopez were omitted.

The four players were never expected to make the provisional squad in the first place, with former Wigan Athletic striker Franco Di Santo the biggest surprise.

Alejandro Sabella needs to remove another three players before 2 June, the FIFA deadline for announcing final World Cup squads.

Argentina have been made second favourites for the World Cup titles behind hosts Brazil in spite of some under-par performances of late.

Los Albicelestes should not have too many problems progressing from the group stage, with Bosnia, Iran and Nigeria their opponents in Group F.

Argentina are 1.25 (1/4) to win their group while they are available at 5.75 (19/4) to go all the way and lift the trophy.
