Gonzalo Higuain ArgentinaArgentina coach Alejandro Sabella has received a welcoming boost ahead of naming his squad for the 2014 World Cup after learning that Gonzalo Higuain’s injury was not as serious as first feared.

The highly rated striker gave los Albicelestes a major scare as he was stretchered off in Napoli’s game against Inter Milan.

However, Napoli have confirmed that the player has only suffered a bruised shin, meaning he could return in the Coppa Italia clash against Fiorentina on 3 May.

“The latest tests done on Gonzalo Higuain after he collided with Inter’s Marco Andreolli confirmed the initial diagnosis,” a statement on the Azzurri’s website read.

“It is a heavy bruise to the right shinbone. His condition will be evaluated over the next few days.”

The good news is Higuain’s participation at the 2014 World Cup is not in doubt, with the 26-year-old having become a key member of Alejandro Sabella’s side.

Argentina have been placed in Group F at the upcoming World Cup, alongside Nigeria, Iran and Bosnia-Hercegovina, and los Albicelestes are 1.29 (2/7) to top their group.
